Considering that they were in the neighborhood for 20 years there were so many part time characters who could have been there – Stretch Cunningham, Barney Hefner, Cousin Bertha, Rev. Felcher, Louise Jefferson, to name a few.

That would have been one party if all those people were under one roof!

You’re so right about that episode being a tear jerker. I remember Archie and Edith on the front porch as Gloria and Mike and Little Joey are leaving. The emotion between Mike and Archie was so good! What a moment! All of the emotional moments between Archie and Gloria make me tear up.

Yeah, she said that she lost her father early (I think) in the time when this show was on the air, and Carol O’Connor became a sort of substitute father to her. He also lost his adult son to suicide, and perhaps Sally helped fill a void. The emotion between them was real.

Carroll O’Connor’s only child, Hugh, committed suicide in 1995. Sally Struthers’ father passed away early in the run of All in the Family or before it came on. The tehder scenes between Archie and Gloria were very real like father and daughter. Many times I was moved to tears by them.

He paid his mortgage…, now he just needed a heart attack and he’d have to sell his house…, Obama is waisting his time…, and insurance companies that don’t pay unless you take them to court for 10-15 years isn’t much help…, luckly 100,000 + people die accidentally in hospitals…, I wonder how many die on purpose…, life is strange, life is strange. Oh, sorry, keep on watching these comedies, everybody needs something they can laugh about, it’s very therapeutic, hahaha
