I think it depends on whether you actually see yourself being a financial planner. It seems like it requires a lot of sales, and while they make a great salary, they also have a high failure rate. I think if you see yourself more likely to go the corporate path, a economics minor would be more impressive on your resume.
As a retired financial services executive I think you should keep in mind: (1) accounting is a discipline that is applicable in many venues and circumstances, it is at the core of almost every business enterprise. (2) accountants work for public and private companies and jobs are always in demand. (3) Financial Planning is a broader field and currently has a large sales requirement. (4) Economics is a social science and is more theoretical.
