Denby Energy, you mislead. The biggest impact on home performance are achieved by improving the home’s porosity (aka the leakiness of the envelope) and improving attic insulation. Nobody can tell how leaky a house is without a blower door tool set. To make sense of the blower door numbers you will need to calculate the Building Airflow Standard, which is not a do it yourself math problem. Identification of 70-80% energy reduction opportunities without tools is a lie.

Thanks for the comment. I appreciate your thoughts, but I think you are missing the point. You are focusing on 1 aspect of energy auditing – leakiness of the home. Our program goes well beyond leakiness to include assessment of lighting, hvac, water heaters, electronics, appliances, energy bills and a multitude of other areas. Tools are an option, but no single tool will take the place of a good comprehensive audit of all the home’s potential energy uses.
