Question : Is it true your friend needs your car title in order to pay your car insurance in Massachusetts? ?
I live in Massachusetts but I will be out of state for about 3 months and i have asked my friend to make payments on my car insurance for me while I am gone. He later tells me that he couldn’t make payments because they need my car title in order to let him pay for me. Is this true or false?

It is false. All your friend needs to do is send in a payment with a payment stub. Insurance companies don’t care who is making the payment as long as the payment is made. If he is submitting a check make sure your policy number and your name is on the memo.

Edit: Even if he is paying it in person, at the most he needs is your policy number and name. It is extremely odd that he would ask for your title. From here on after, try to take everything he says to you with a grain of salt. I mean if he has the nerve to ask you for your title, god knows what else he could do.
