Question : will in probate in california omits my name–i am overseas–can lawyer check for me discretely ?
I believe in this case some manipulation has been done by
greedy parties. Person who passed on many times assured
me I was included because he knew I would continue to look after his grandson who is partially disabled. I cannot leave my post to return to California at this time. Please help me with advice if you can. Thank you.

You don’t need an attorney to obtain a copy of a will in Probate. Just have someone go to the Probate Clerk’s office in the county where the person died and ask for a copy of the file. There will be a fee for copying but it’s public records.
Yes, a lawyer can check for you discreetly. In California, not all wills are on file. If no probate has been opened, there will be no will on file. There are many reasons why a probate is not opened, including the small size of an estate or the existence of a trust which controls all of the assets.
A California probate attorney can look into it for you. But I have to ask–if you can’t leave your post for this, how will you take care of the disabled grandchild?
