For the crt you should always make sure the Common name is the virtual host name.

You must remember that when creating your own unsigned crt’s, that you dont do payment processing on your server.

People wont trust it.

pretty straight forward way to test your home server albeit would not recommend self signing the cert if you plan use credit card payments online. Nice tutorial
