Auto Insurance for Military Members?
Question : Auto Insurance for Military Members?
Do the branches have their insurances? I’m going into the Air Force and my recruiter actually said they do and is cheaper. I just want to know more details about it if anyone has the knowledge. Thank you

No the branches don’t have auto insurance, but there are insurance companies that provide extra benefits to military members.

Like the others said, most of us use USAA.
One person suggested GEICO… they can’t compete with USAA. No one can. When we used to get telemarketers calling from GEICO, they’d ask who we had insurance with. When we told them USAA, they’d say, “Oh, never mind. Have a good day.” LOL
I’m sure the recruiter was talking about USAA.

I can vouch for USAA. We insure 2 vehicles, a 2004 and a 2001 for $ 88/month (neither of us have any speeding tickets, accidents, or other moving violations though)…and they take half out of our account on the mid month and eom check. Their customer service is GREAT. I had a flat tire on an offramp and they stayed on the phone until the police arrived to secure the area.
They also have banking too. We may switch our accounts to USAA, but insurance is great for now!

The Air Force doesn’t have their own auto or home owners/renters insurance, but you can get insurance through USAA, which is for military members.
Geico also does insurance for military members, but we switched to USAA when we PSCed to Europe because they are much cheaper. And their customer service is excellent. Also, USAA is one of the few insurance companies that offer auto insurance if you are stationed overseas, so I highly recommend them!

The Air Force does not have a specific insurance company, I know because I am in the AF. However, I use USAA which is for Military members only. They are CHEAP, much cheaper than anyone including Geico, Progressive, State Farm etc…
Just as an example, I purchased a new truck and my civilian insurance company wanted (no kidding) $ 170 a month and my driving record only consisted of speeding tickets (2). USAA dropped me down to $ 85 a month, and this was for a four month plan. So, I pay $ 85 for four months, no payment for 2 months, then they renew the policy. They also have life, rental, homeowners, flood insurance the whole 9 yards. I have never had an issue with USAA.Check out http://www.usaa.com

I know that the Army does not have Personal Auto Insurance, and I’ve never heard of any other branch having it either. The military does insure you if your are driving/riding in a military vehicle, but not your personally owned vehicle.
Most of the service members that I know have their insurance thru either Geiko or USAA. Both are good, fairly cheap, and offer a “military rider” which is additional insurance for when you’re operating a military vehicle.
Make sure your recruiter understood your question.

Check out
There is an insurance company for military members. I started with them back before they allowed enlisted folks there services because I was a former dependent of a military officer. The first six months seemed to be a probationary period because after that my car insurance dropped in half. I have a friend that looked into them and the rates were quite high, though I wonder if they were imposing the same probationary period. It didn’t help that he had a checkered past.
As far as the service they provide, from my father’s experiences and my own they are better than any other company. Whenever I decide to look for more quotes, I can’t seem to find any that beat what I have now.
