How should I go about making these donations?
Question : How should I go about making these donations?
My great-aunt and neighbor both passed away this week so I was wanting to contribute to “Doctors Without Borders” Haiti relief efforts. I’m a young graduate student (so very strapped for cash, but I know every bit helps) with lack of social etiquette in the adult world, and I don’t know what I’m doing! Should I send a card saying a donation has been made in their “name” or “honor” ? Is it improper to tell them? How do I make a donation in “their name” if the name has to match my debit card information? I’m so confused!

When you make a charitable donation, a card is sent to the family to acknowledge the donation made by you in honor of the individual.
You can make a tribute donation on their website. They will send a notification letter to the families. It takes about 4 weeks for the letter to arrive in the families’ mailboxes. Still send a sympathy card with a more personalized message. It is not inappropriate to inform them a donation to DWB was made in their honor. I’m sure they will be touched with your kindness, no matter the amount. Please accept my sympathies.
