Highly unlikely. They are making sure there is no unauthorized software on the computer, that the antivirus software is up to date, and you have the latest security patches. Oh, and geek is a disparaging term. Treat your IT staff with respect and they will help you in a crunch.
They are looking for a stash of porn or anything else that is not work related on your machine. And to check your web browser history file for non business related web surfing.
