ask the Probate Courts, they will tell you, what you’ll need.
The clerks at the Probate Court really aren’t allowed to tell you anything about the law – that is called the “Unauthorized Practice of Law” – you need to speak to a lawyer.
If the house is worth a lot, it is well worth seeking the services of an attorney. It amazes me how many people try to save a few bucks, and end up losing everything. If you don’t have EVERY word on the title correct, you could lose the house. If you inherited a house from your dad’s estate, the attorney that handled the estate’s administration should put the house into your name correctly – ask >THAT< lawyer to do this for you. It probably won’t cost you anything – OR maybe not very much anyways.
Some people (like Darryl b) think all you have to do is simply type a bunch of words on a form – they don’t realize that it takes an attorney YEARS of studying law to know WHAT words to type.
Please do not seek legal advice over the Internet – the field of Law is too complex for that.
