Frederick, MD (Vocus) 1 October 2010

Allen Schaeffer, managing director of the Diesel Technology Forum has today issued the following statement Obama administration? ? The announcement that it was the beginning of the process of development? More? Greenhouse gas emissions and fuel economy for cars and light trucks for model years 2017 to 2025.

European drivers are already on

diesel car for more energy efficiency

â? Meeting expectations â? More? Fuel efficiency targets require different solutions and wind turbines? again more confident than ever that clean diesel technology is one of these solutions. Only time will tell if American consumers are ready to plug in electric vehicles, but they are already telling us loud and clear they are now ready for cleaner diesel technology.

â? In Europe, more than 50 percent of all cars on the roads today, diesel cars because of their high efficiency, low emissions and long-term sustainability. Although modest three percent of passenger cars and light trucks in the U.S. for diesel now the target of this new fuel efficiency dramatically increases the importance of clean diesel cars in the U.S. drivers.

The sale of diesel passenger cars were 52 percent saturated

in August 2010 – In the United States

â? Diesel car sales in August 2010 rose by a whopping 52 percent from the previous August, and by 20 percent from July 2010, highlighting the growing recognition of American consumers the benefits of technology clean diesel as a new economic, efficient solution with a proven long-term value.

â? Now more than ever, consumers are looking for cautious with money from their investments in cars more for long-term value, performance and trust, all they get with a diesel vehicle. The technology is tried and clean diesel fuel is now next to gasoline blends more than half of the stations across the country. In addition, the resale value of diesel cars has always higher than for comparable gasoline models. And there are many federal tax credits for diesel cars by the end of this year.

â? Even with fewer choices for consumers, their sales of diesel cars have a growing acceptance among consumers. Today, consumers in the United States may of 14 cars, trucks or sport utility vehicles to choose clean diesel engines, compared with 34 choices of hybrid technologies. The next entry into the U.S. market diesel Mazda, which announced earlier this year that the SKY-D clean diesel engine will be available here in 2012 as a new option in one or more vehicles.

â? The national program for cleaner cars and greenhouse gas emissions and excellent fuel efficiency standards is certainly a better option diesel that it reaches a higher fuel efficiency without a compromise of vehicle size and performance.

â? clean diesel engines will allow the manufacturers to continue to provide consumers with the full range of vehicles they want, family sedans and fuel-efficient crossover SUVs, vans, full size, in the first five ranking most vehicles selling these in the “United States? all without compromising performance for fuel economy.â

context:

In May 2010, President Obama, at a Rose Garden ceremony, announced a new effort to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy efficiency standards for heavy trucks and medium available and begin the process to other Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE ) to provide for light vehicles. (Note “? This sheet deals only with aspects of light vehicles from this rule. A separate statement will be issued by the DTF to the effect of medium and heavy trucks.)

Why is this important action administration?

It starts the process to fuel consumption and future greenhouse gas emissions for light duty vehicles and light trucks to establish. Ultimately, this policy has significant influence on the design of new vehicles, fuel and operations in 2017 and beyond as possible.

If the process requires certain fuels and technologies should be used to achieve the objectives?

No. Typically, established to meet NHTSA standards and requirements for manufacturers. Each manufacturer will then make their own decisions based technology needs of clients and queue their intended use.

What are the strategies that manufacturers use to could meet higher demands on fuel economy in the future?

There are many variables and it is impossible to predict at this stage without knowing the fuel consumption and greenhouse gas goals, conditions, test requirements and other factors to determine certainty which technologies can compete. Some of the most likely:
Downsizing and light weighting of the o-vehicles down the line reduced to meet energy needs.

o Advances in gasoline engines: the improvement in gasoline engines, as is downsizing, turbocharging and the use of direct injection to give better fuel economy.

o Clean Diesel has already 30 percent more mpg than a comparable gasoline engine and can improve the efficiency in the future.

o Hybridization vehicles like the upcoming Chevrolet Volt with a small gasoline engine and an advanced hybrid drive with storage battery has.

O Increased use of electric motors for the functions previously managed by belts on the engine.

o Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles operated exclusively with electricity.

What the attributes of leadership, for which a selection of diesel technology to meet these needs are expected?

Diesel offers an unparalleled combination of energy efficiency, reliability and durability. How

diesel cars and trucks available to many of today’s consumers?
There

At present 14 models of cars and light commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicles and heavy pick-up for consumers. Vehicle manufacturers BMW, Ford, GM, Mercedes, Trucks Ram, and VW. The full list is available here.

percent from the current market does not have diesel in the U.S.?

Diesel accounted for just under two percent of new cars sold in the U.S. in 2009.

Are there new products enter the U.S. diesel?

Yes. Mazda has announced his intention known to its clean diesel technology as SKY-D in the United States in 2012, with one or more vehicles. Other producers, product announcements diesel rumor but made no official announcement.

What are the possibilities of the future market?

All sales of cars and trucks were hit by the recession of the last two years. However, these estimates show the range of confidence for more diesel in the U.S. What

Europe, diesel Arena t get popular there ?????

Yes. Diesel has always been for almost 50 percent or more of all new car registrations in Western Europe since 2004 accounted for according to the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers. Last year diesel cars made 45.9 percent of all new passenger vehicles records (13,665,782 Units) in Western Europe. What

diesel fuel? Is also available as gasoline or do you stop a truck going to fill?

Ultra-low-sulfur clean diesel fuel is more common today on more stations than ever before – more than 52 percent of all stations, according to U.S. Census Bureau (2010)

The Diesel Technology Forum is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of diesel engines, fuel and technology. Forum members are leaders in clean diesel technology and represent the three most important elements of modern clean diesel: advanced engines, vehicles and equipment, fuel and clean diesel emission control systems.
