Question : Can I buy+ hold real estate using self-directed IRA $ without using one of those over-priced management firms?
I want to buy an investment parcel due to inflation. What’s the best way to do this without using one of those ridiculous firms that manage it? For example property tax payments, maintenance, etc.?

I’m not exactly sure you can invest directly into real estate using your IRA. I am pretty sure you can only buy stocks, bonds, options, or commodities from an IRA. You can definitely buy REITs however. REITs are stocks that only invest in Real Estate. HRP is a good example. It owns a whole bunch of commercial office buildings around the US and makes a ton of money renting the space out. The money is paid directly to you as a shareholder in the form of a dividend. Since stocks, and especially real estate stocks have become so cheap due to the recession, they are a great place to go for huge dividends. Check out that idea.
