Question : Are there any websites that review / rate web hosting services?
I’m currently looking for a website to host content for personal use and I’ll eventually want to move it into a more commercial role (i.e. selling merchandise) so I’ll need good merchant tools and if possible 24/7 support. If there were one place I could browse through the various options it would make my life a lot easier. Feel free to add any info / experiences you may have had, but best answer goes to he/she who can provide a good rating service / list of web hosting services. Thanks in advance, all!

Take a look at http://www.explorewebhosting.com. It’s a relatively new site, but you can find listings/reviews, search by features that you are looking for in a web host, ask questions in the forum for user opinions, and read articles/tutorials about web hosting and development.

WebHostingReview.org is a nice website where users review and rate their web hosts. It is very helpful when it comes to make a final decision on which hosting service to choose.
As for web hosting provider, I would recommend HostGator as well. I have almost all my e-commerce sites hosted with them. HostGator has a friendly support team and superb service overall. As a second option I would suggest FatCow web hosting for small businesses.

I’ve been using them for a while, they have 24/7 support which can be accessed via a little chat tool (similar to facebook chat)
They have merchant tools (full list on their website)
Their plans range from personal blogs right up to business which I think is the one you’re more interested in. The best way to do this, is the read through what they offer on their business package which is everything you need for a commercial website (how do I know this? I host freebears.com which is a business website through hostgator)
Highly recommend hostgator!
