Depends on the state you live and the bankruptcy laws there. It also depends if you are trying to file for Chapter 7 (wipe out everything) or Chapter 13 (repayment plan).
For example, how much equity do you have in your home? Is there a homestead protection for your home in bankruptcy in your state? There’s not a simple answer without more information for your pariticular situation. I suggest that you go to a BK attorney and ask some questions. Many of them will give free consults to help you make a decision on whether BK makes sense for you or not.
