Insurance adjusters….Where can i find a school or CE for Cargo Adjusters?
Question : Insurance adjusters….Where can i find a school or CE for Cargo Adjusters?
I am a cargo adjuster for an independent heavy equipment insurance claims adjusting firm and I need to find some continuing education. I work for my dad that handles claims on all heavy equipment, 18 wheelers and he hired me after hurricane Katrina to help him in his office. I was a social worker before the storm so I have been thrown into this kind of work. Although my dad is an excellent teacher and mentor, I still need some kind of formal education in this line of work and I have not been able to find any schools, conventions or classes that teach CARGO which is my main job. I have read heavy equipment claims magazines, looked online and even called our clients to see if they knew of any and had no luck. Someone please help!!! I love this job and I want to be the best at what I do. I am getting on the job training but my dad will retire in the next few years and i don’t want him to take his knowledge with him.

where did your dad get his training? I suggest going to www.aicpcu.org and see what they offer. Good luck.
First of all, don’t limit your ce’s. There are many times that the ability to cross borders is important, such as in subrogation cases, and the like. So…don’t limit yur ces to cargo.
However, check out claimspages.com. They announce a lot of continuing education, such as the upcoming prlb

There is an article in the Feb 2007 claims magazine covering your situtation.
There may even be an association of cargo or inland marine adjusters. I’m not sure, but worth checking the web for
