All people religious or not who calim an tax exempt status should be audited, but since this is impractical I’d say the ones who are claiming the most tax relief, and the ones who are the in charge of the largest religious organisations. I’m sure they are already doing this, carefully balancing the cost of investigation and audit against likely income from successful prosecution.

A sweep of tax audits went through the televangelist world maybe three years ago. And, it is my guess that maybe (possibly) one out of the 12 to 15 I know of may have had to pay or may have been fined. The others with their million dollar ministries were fine. And they help the poor in many ways. I think the poor should be helped.

You hit the nail on the head on that one. This will eventually happen. When all religion will be audited. Our money hungry government will have no other place to get more tax money and will have to go after religions. This is when religions will have to close their doors.
