My brother lives in Manchester, UK and he wishes to pay $ 1000 into my google merchant account (the money goes into my checking account). Will I be taxed by state or federal for this money from my brother? I live in Illinois, US

What’s the reason for the payment? If he’s just giving you a gift, that would have no tax consequences for you.
