Question : What happens if I use a check on my closed checking account by accident?
I bank through 2 banks and I closed the 1 not too long ago and both my checking account checks are identicle. I used a check from my closed account by accident for $ 79 the other day and realized it was the wrong checking account book. (My old checking account was for one’s that are in the checking account and offered a second chance for a small fee a month.) What will happen?

it will come back as a closed account and you could incur fees from the company you wrote the check to. i would call them and ask if it’s possible to exchange checks.

Call whoever you wrote the check to and see if you can either exchange the check or just bring them the cash for what you purchased. Obviously the one you wrote will bounce and you need to call the bank and notify them so you can pay any fees owed so they don’t issue a warrant for your arrest for writing bad checks.

Checks that are attached to a closed account are not legal tender. I believe you did it by accident, but that is not going to be a valid defense since that’s what everyone claims. You are supposed to destroy checks once the account is closed, and of course that’s the prudent thing to do because someone else could get hold of them.
Call the bank and tell them about the mistake and see if they will work with you and not charge you a mountain of fees and penalties.
