It’s interesting how there’s a combination of technologies being used by the clerk at the store.
At the same time she’s using electronic technology from the Bell System for credit purchases, the cash register on the counter is still an old mechanical one, the kind with an electric motor to drive counting wheels.

It’s funny, because although the machines have changed in appearance and all, they are still using 300 baud modems to connect to the provider (well, at least the ones that actually use the telephone, not the ones that use the internet). I think I was born in the wrong era, because I would of had so much fun with the old technology from back then. No CD’s, just 8 tracks, records, and open reel tapes. Oh, and the sound of tube driven stereos is just awesome. Everything was tougher.
