Question : Voluntary project, Financial Services careers?
Hi Everyone,
I have a retail banking background, mainly into operations, and wanted to move to Investment sector. Recently, after a few exchanges of emails to a CEO of one of the Financial Services company he agreed to meet me for a Managerial position…which would be in a new startup company and I am ,well not me the one who gets that job, is required to fill in for many roles ….the plus about the job is it will get me started into investment sector…
herez the deal now, I had a rather nice interview and after bragging about all my achivments and skills during the interview …the CEO has reverted back asking me to submit “an example of work project of which I am proud of, he’d like to see, however modest, that captures my analytical skills and captures my communication style” now am lost here…I have no clue what would it ?
I was considering :
1) A small research report may be that deals with current financial crises?
2) A project I am already working on , I am actually writing an E-book for job seekers on interview skills and Interview question and answers…. but am not sure if this would be considered as analytical? I need some opinion on this…
Or els you can give your own ideas plz

The new company is engaged in financing the investment projects and you have experience in retail banking both of which have a very wide gap. Investment banker will appraise any request from its customers or clients applying Discounted Cash Flow method. A sensitive analysis will also be carried out as well as calculating internal rate of return to find the rate of return at which the net present value of the investment is zero.
It is a specialized exercise and there are still many more aspects to it which can not be covered in this forum. I would suggest you visit http://www.investopedia.com use their tutorials and definitions to learn more about it.
Based on your experience of retail banking, you can not write a report on these lines. You may, however, give them a report about the project you handled in your current job which makes you proud. Be honest. You will have to mention how you analyzed the client’s request, how did you appraise the request, what security you obtained and how did it affect the business of your bank.

sampel of your project would be on what you have learned during your previous jobs to be interrelated to the retail banking. you are in a position in selling products. but in terms of investment, it respectively indirectly proportional to your work. when you don conducting sales then shift to investment. think of which you handle from your previous job then relate this into investment procedures if it is neccessary.
