Question : Can you practice as a financial planner without passing CFP exam?
Is taking the financial planner courses for 9 or 13 months, sufficient? Is the CFP designation used only for recognition? or is is a requirement? Can you advise people how to invest/plan financially, without any license? (in Illinois).

Yes, you can do it without a license or th eCFP designation. You cannot sell insurance or trade shares for someone, though.
