Question : I have a few high interest credit card bills that I would like to consolidate.?
I do want to pay off the loan in 8 months though and am looking for something with low interest.
What are some things to be aware of when researching for a debt consolidation loan?

I would suggest going to a reliable site like http://www.rightcharge.org
I know that they are a good site. They made it easy for my wife and I to compare many different types of cards, they have on-line secure applications and we were approved really quick.

HI
look for a credit card that is offering interest free credit on bill transfers and then move all your existing debt to that card. That way you can pay the whole lot off without any more interest being added.
The secret is not to use this credit card to add any new debt too as you will be charged interest for new transactions. -

For one, there are so many internet loan scams out there so be careful what you apply for & make sure you do your research to make sure the company is legit. Honestly, I would just go to your local bank & apply that way. The interest depends on your credit score, everyone wants low interest but if your credit isn’t good, you won’t get the lowest possible interest rate. Try not to do anything online.

Have you tried out Prosper? I have a loan through them, and know lenders on there. They let you put up a 3 year personal loan (but you can prepay it without penalty) and the lenders (regular folks not banks) bid on the rate to fund the loan.
