Is Bank of America CampusEdge (student) Checking good, better than the rest?
Question : Is Bank of America CampusEdge (student) Checking good, better than the rest?
I’m entering college in the fall and I want to create a student checking account. Bank of America and Wachovia are convenient to campus, but my parents have an account with Chase. I want to know if Bank of America’s student checking is fair, cheap, and amiable to their student customers. Suggestions towards Chase & Wachovia are welcome too.

I say go with Soverign.
I would stay clear of Bank of america. Some would disagree but their customer service is horrible. If you need to speak with someone about your account, you’ll be on the phone for an hour minimum and waiting at the bank for atleast 40 minutes.
Although BOA ATMs are every where… that’s the only advantage.
Sovereign is good because they don’t charge for ATM use at ATMs that are not owned by sovereign. If you use a BOA ATM card at maybe a Citizens bank atm… BOA will charge you and so will Citizens. For Sovereign atm cards, only the other bank will charge.
I just think it’s better overall in the long run.
I like the CampusEdge checking account. It doesn’t require a minimum balance for up to five years while you’re in school. Everything else about the account is like any of their other accounts. Free debit card, free online banking with bill pay. Some of the extras aren’t free. You do have to pay for a money order (but you can get them cheap from places like grocery stores).
