Can I still use my credit/debt card?
Question : Can I still use my credit/debt card?
The other day, I cut all my credit cards, not realizing that I also cut my debit card. This was an accident. However, I need to use my debit card over the weekend and I will get my new card in 7-10 days. This may sound stupid, but can I gle the card? It is only cut in half, or can I use my card in a story just giving them my account number, id card, etc.?
Thanks

nope. it’s useless but you knew that already.
You can try to glue or staple the card, but I can tell you right now, it won’t read when you swipe it. The magnetic strip needs to be completely in tact to be read, so you will have a problem with that. However, you can take the card with you to the store and see if they will manually key-enter the number. You will need to bring the card and your ID; the store may be uncomfortable with this because for all they know you took the pieces of the card out of someones trash, hence why you need the ID. But you will need to bring the card with you because if the store will key it in, they will need to take an imprint of the card to prove it was present and in your name. You can also go to the branch and cash a check to withdraw funds; do you have an ATM card? ATM cards can be used anywhere that accepts a debit transaction (the gas pump, the grocery, etc) as long as you know the pin number and you chose “debit” instead of “credit.”
