What are some of the amounts homeowners insurance pays?
Question : What are some of the amounts homeowners insurance pays?
I am waiting for the adjuster’s report on our damages after hurricane Ike in Texas. As the estimates for interior sheetrock, flooring and painting repairs and roof damages come in I hear different reports from other people as far as what the insurance companies allow for all the different items – such as: $ 30.00 per foot of fence replacement, $ 1.20 per sq.ft. for sheetrock etc. Does anyone have more figures that they know about?

An insurance company is going to pay fair and reasonable costs, assuming you have a policy that will pay replacement cost. If a company is over charging, the insurance company may not pay all of the bill. If that’s the case, you’d be better off finding a contractor not trying to rip you off. Don’t fret, most insurance companies are fair and will pay a fair amount for repairs.
Technically, the answer to your question is $ 5, $ 1000, $ 10,000.
But pratcially, it depends on the type of policy you’re talking about, where the house is located, how much your deductible is, etc.
Fences can be different heights and different materials and different styles, all of which would have a different price. $ 30 is really, really high for just about any fence that’s not gold plated.
YOUR AGENT should be able to help you with this.
