I used an credit card to pre-order some items online, according to his website, the items recently came in to the merchant but I have yet to recieve my order. I have had good service with this merchant in the past with similar orders. The merchant does not respond to e-mails and the phone number goes to a full voice-mail box. This has only been 10 days. If I am unable to conntact the merchant what should my next step be? How would I file criminal charges againt him and who with?

There are a few items which have been reaged by a collections agency and they cannot do that. The SOL has passed and they should be removed from my credit report. Also, when you view your credit report where is the “date of last activity”? All I see is the open date and last reported date. The last reported date can’t possibly be the date to go by because then the companies can stay on your credit report forever. I have never had problems about stuff dropping off before but Capital One refuses to drop off and the three different collection agencies (for one card mind you) keep reporting a new date opened. This is ridiculous. How can I get them off? It has been 8 years now and they are still on there.

Anything you dispute has to be in writing. Call the credit bureau or go to their website to get instructions. You’ll need to write a letter with copies of all of the pertinent info. Generally they’ll review it and make a decision within 30 days. Good luck!

Question : I want to become a Certified Financial Planner, but I have my degrees in something else?
I have my Bachelors and Master’s degree in Psychology and am looking at a career switch. I am wondering if simply studying for a year or so & passing the CFP exam will be sufficient to get a shoe-in in this profession? I do not want to go back for a SECOND bachelor’s or an MBA if I do not have to. Is this an option to become a CFP, or need I a background in Accounting/Finance/Business Admin.?

In order to begin courses for the CFP designation, you need a bachelor’s degree in any subject. Everything else you need to do is shown on the CFP site: http://www.cfp.net/become/
Have you considered getting a job through a wirehouse — like Merrill Lynch, for example? You’ll learn the basics and they may even help you pay for your CFP courses. Once you pass them, you could go to an independent broker-dealer such as LPL, taking your clients with you if you can. This will allow you to have a source of income, training, and a good idea whether or not this is a career change which you will enjoy.

I have acess to my online account but I don’t have the debit card, It’s in the mail, Is there anyway I can buy something online with just this? Paypal takes 3-4 days to process and I sort of need it sooner… Any suggestions?

You could wire the money, you have to go into a banking center and you need to have the other persons, routing and account number, there is a cost depending on the bank and if you guys bank at the same bank it could be in there account within a few minutes, if it is another bank usually a few hours, good luck!

house contents insurance covers all contents of the house irregardless of whose the owner right? i mean if your partner or child loses something, you can still make a claim for it even though you’re the applicant right because it says house contents or am i wrong about this?

Ipods, digital cameras and psp would be cheaper to replace than having your premiums go up or have your insurance dropped.

Depending on your income, you may get a tax credit on your income taxes. Retirement funds usually are protected from creditors (that is how OJ Simpson was able to maintain his lifestyle after the lawsuit from the Goldmans). A Roth IRA allows your money to grow tax free and lets you withdraw your funds tax free under certain circumstances. You can put your IRA in on online bank account earning 5.25% too.

Yes, the money has already been taken from your bank to pay for the item purchased. The bank will add an overdraft fee to your negative balance. But the item has been paid for at the bank’s expense.

Question : Have you gotten something in the mail called a “National Debt Stimulus Notification”?
It is from some LLC called “National Financial Assistance Center”. And, it is extremely bogus. It looked pretty official but I am a natural skeptic and was surprised to see that no one mentioned anything online about the not-so-upfront company.
I just wanted to make sure something about how dishonest the company is would come up if one were to search for it online.
At least they could’ve gotten the National Debt RELIEF Stimulus name right…geez!
BEWARE – these are the times that people will try to take advantage of the vulnerable. Keep your head up and alert, good luck and God bless.
