Question : What does it mean when the IT geek comes over to your computer at work and tell you they’re doing an “audit”?
and you have to leave your desk for 30 minutes while they audit your computer? Are they trying to find reasons to fire me?

Highly unlikely. They are making sure there is no unauthorized software on the computer, that the antivirus software is up to date, and you have the latest security patches. Oh, and geek is a disparaging term. Treat your IT staff with respect and they will help you in a crunch.

I’m not a Post–Bulletin subscriber, but I got a call from a company that calls itself Crossfire that says it was representing the Post–Bulletin and wanted me to subscribe. They offered a special rate and asked for my credit card number. I didn’t give it to them and suspect it was a scam. They called from the 715 area code. Was it a scam?
